Kelly starts work

Today is a good day for us in Australia. Kelly finally started work here at the Consulate and he is one happy camper. I am happy too, mainly because he is happy. He is a security escort, which means, as an American citizen with a security clearance, he escorts people around the Consulate who do not have the proper clearances to be in certain areas. He is only working 20 hours a week to start out but we are hoping eventually it will work into a full time position. He is very happy with at least 20 hours though. We are two happy people in Australia; however, we are still homesick and want to be home.

Church Calling

I have a new church calling. I am the assistant director of girls camp and Shane and I are on the food committee for the pioneer trek! What a summer it's going to be. We just had our first meeting for trek and I'm real excited to see how it will effect us all (the family that is). Mason will have to stay home with his mom because he's too young. Girls camp will be a blast. This year we're going water skiing for a couple days and nothing too big because of the trek. Trek is June and Camp is July.

A year in Australia

I am such an idiot. I forgot how to sign into this blog so I haven't posted anything for a while, but my sweet little Heather told me how so here we have it. Kelly and I have been in Australia for almost a year now. We miss being home so much but we are going to try and stick it out for a minimum of one more year and maximum of two more years. That is it though, we want to be home. We sold the house so now we are saving to buy some land so we can start building a new one. I have the plan all picked out, now just where to build it. Kelly and I have had a great time here. We have taken our scooters all over and have hiked to a lighthouse that guides the ships in the South Pacific Ocean. I'll post a picture. We woke up early on 2/20/07 and watched the largest cruise ship in the world come into the Sydney Harbour, that would be the Queen Mary 2. Later that evening, the Queen Elizabeth 2 came into the harbour and as it passed the QM2, they both blew their loud horns signifying passing in the night. It was quite incredible, but there were also thousands or other people watching so we had a very hard time getting a ferry to come back home that night. Oh well, the tragedy of living in Australia I guess. I enjoy ready these posts, so I am going to plead again for everyone invited to join in. Image how fun it would be years from now to read a family journal.

Love you all and post soon.

President's Day Weekend

We had a good long weekend. We let Mckall have 3 of her friends over for a sleep over and let me tell you 3 teen girls is enough! On Sunday we went to dinner at Bo and Cass's house and Bo made the best lasagna I have ever had (thanks bo). Then we brought Cody home with us to Mason's delight and on the drive home the two of them discovered the mystery to the Bermuda Triangle and proceeded to tell me all about it. They have figured out that they are geniuses and will also be rich when they tell the government. Cody said "Aunt Heather, do you know the phone number to the government?" It was so funny. Shane and I laughed our butts off. Then when I told him I didn't he assured Mason that it was ok because their Nanna works for the FBI and he's sure she'll know the number to the government. Our boys are two peas in a pod when they get together. I just love that they're so close. I envision them life long friends and Mason going to Cody's mission farewell and then homecoming and then Cody seeing Mason off and home on his mission. I just love thinking about it.

On Monday we all went bowling and ate pizza and fries and meet Juls and her kids too. It sure was a great weekend.

More info

What? Now that the holidays are over....no more blogs? I don't think so. Just wanted to tell everyone that not only is Shane paying for my previous degree but he is now offering to put me through real estate school. I'm a little nervous because of the legal issues associated with real estate and all the laws and regulations and memorizing of things but I'm excited. I'm going to register next week! Yea. I'm excited. I have the best husband in the world. No offense daddy, bo, stevie, and uncle jack. I sure do love you guys!
